About the Course

A set of skills to equip individuals in hygienic practices and handling food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service, and disposal of food.

Pathways Information
Achievement of this unit provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality, events, holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
Certification requirements apply at a state and territory level to individuals involved in food handling or supervision. Certification in some States relies on the achievement of SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA002 Participate in safe food handling practices.

Food safety legislative and knowledge requirements may differ across borders. Those developing training to support the SITXFSA001 and SITXFSA002 units must consult the relevant state or territory food safety authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors.

How will I study?

Delivery Location: Lake Cargelligo Campus

This course is fully funded by TAFE NSW and Training Services NSW.

At the end of the course you will have SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety unit that covers you to work in any food prepartion or service area such as kitchens, bars, restaurants and cafes. You will also complete SITXFSA002 Participate in safe food handling practices which makes you elibible for a Food Safety Supervision certificate.

This program includes activities which are to be completed in your own time.

When will I study?

Class attendance is Part time

This is a short two day course. Your course is on Thursday and Friday 28-29 March 2019 starting at 09:00 am and finishing at 4:00 pm or a little earlier on Friday.

Course length: 12 hours per week for 1 Week

Classes start at 9:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM
Start Date: 28 March 2019
End Date: 29 April 2019

What will I pay?

The amount you pay will depend on your individual circumstances.

TAFE NSW Government-subsidised fee (for eligible students): $0 per course - no enrolment fee applicable for this course

How will I study?

Delivery Location: Dubbo College, Myall Street Campus

In this course you will work through the learning resources and complete the assessment activities. The course will provide a set of skills to equip individuals in hygienic practices & handling food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service & disposal of food in a variety of hospitality settings.

Your enrolment is not complete until you have finalised your $265 fee for the course. You will be sent the Food Handling workbooks and assessments to complete.

This program includes activities which are to be completed in your own time.

When will I study?

Class attendance is Part time

This is by flexible delivery. Students will complete the course work and assessments within six months of enrolment.

Course length: 1 hours per week for 36 Weeks

Classes start at 9:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM

What will I pay?

There is a mandatory fee of $265.00 that covers the cost of this Food Safety Supervisor Certificate from the Food Authority

Non-Government subsidised fee: $265.00 per course (GST free). There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this option. Your tuition fee includes all essential study materials. You will also complete SITXFSA002 Participate in safe food handling practices which makes you elibible for a Food Safety Supervision certificate.

This is a shortcourse consisting of a workshop on Wednesday starting at 09:00 am and finishing at 4:00 pm. You may have additional work to complete online or via blended delivery.

Course length: 12 hours per week for 1 Week

End Date: 29 April 2019
