TAFE NSW Broken Hill will celebrate National Skills Week next Thursday (31 August) with a special hospitality demonstration, showcasing an innovative approach to high-quality education and training.
Since its inception in 2011, National Skills Week (28 August to 3 September) has recognised, celebrated and informed students and the wider public of the diversity, benefits and career pathways associated with Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Embracing the theme “More Than You Know”, the state-wide program will highlight the diverse course offerings, employer partnerships, world-class training and technology available at TAFE NSW.
TAFE NSW Broken Hill Hospitality teacher Lee Cecchin and the team will show participants how to make the perfect coffee, provide fun demonstrations using chocolate, and lots more.
“It will be fantastic to engage with the community and demonstrate some of the life-changing skills you can learn while studying at TAFE NSW,” Mrs Cecchin said.
“If nothing else, they can come along for a free coffee and some delicious chocolate.”
Mrs Cecchin will hold two demonstrations on Thursday at the main Broken Hill College in Argent Street, with the morning session from 10am-noon and the afternoon session from 1-3pm.
TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Kate Baxter said National Skills Week presented a great opportunity for anyone looking for one-on-one career and course advice, or those wanting to meet teachers and past graduates to discuss VET opportunities with the leading training provider.
“National Skills Week is about engaging our community,” she said. “If we spark an interest in training, we can develop skills that contribute to the development of our economy and the communities in which we live.”
Whether students are looking for a career they love, skills to score a promotion at work, or a vocation change, TAFE NSW has more than 1,200 on-campus and online courses. TAFE NSW offers flexibility that allows students to balance their study, work and family commitments, and provides skills for today’s jobs and future careers.
