TAFE NSW Gilgandra Aboriginal Engagement Coordinator, Robbie Olsen, believes he has found his dream job, helping deliver enhanced education and training opportunities for his peoples.
Mr Olsen, who started in early April, is very passionate about Aboriginal career advancement and is excited to be working closely with the Gilgandra community to help produce exciting pathways to success at TAFE NSW.
“For the past decade, I have worked for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Indigenous Affairs Group and really enjoyed seeing the progress made from our funded programs in particular the Safety and Wellbeing- Alcohol and Other Drugs program,” Mr Olsen said.
“At TAFE NSW I’m looking forward to providing an important link between local businesses, government organisations and the Aboriginal community.
“I am a firm believer that Gilgandra has some great young Aboriginal leaders in our community. It’s my aim to encourage them, help them upskill, and understand they can be whatever they want to be!
“People say I am well connected, I simply say I know how to get things done by knowing the right people.”
Mr Olsen said it was great to see some new course offerings at TAFE NSW Gilgandra for semester two.
“We have a number of exciting new courses available for semester two- a Statement of Attainment Kitchen Essentials currently taking enrolments,” he said.
“It’s a very exciting time for TAFE NSW Gilgandra and I encourage the community to reach out and make the most of the wide variety of training opportunities available to them.”
