Introduction to Leadership skills

About the Course

This course provides the skills and knowledge to be an effective manager and leader. It applies to managers and supervisors who use initiative and judgement to organise the work of self and others and plan, evaluate and co-ordinate the work of teams.
Key areas covered include:
• the development and use of emotional intelligence to increase self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management in the context of the workplace.
• communicating effectively as a workplace leader, including understanding the context, choosing methods of communication to suit the audience, and following up.
• Being a member of an innovative team including how to play a proactive role in demonstrating, encouraging or supporting innovation in a team environment.
• Implementing the organisation’s continuous improvement systems and processes and using systems and strategies to actively encourage the team to participate.

This Statement of Attainment forms part of the Certificate IV in Leadership Management and is ideal for those who need to build their leadership skills and become more organised and productive.

It is suitable to new and aspiring managers/leaders and supervisors. Improve your people management skills, lead, and develop your team to improve outcomes. Develop your own emotional intelligence (EQ) and understand the effect that your EQ has on others in your team. Become a better leader and manager through completing this course. Your teachers are highly qualified with extensive workplace experience. They aim to help you understand the theory and apply it to the workplace using practical examples and hands-on tasks with regular feedback and guidance along the way. Your teachers are available to be contacted via email or phone throughout the duration of your course.

Units included in this Statement of attainments are;

o Communicate effectively as a workplace leader - BSBLDR401
o Promote innovation in a team environment - BSBINN301
o Implement continuous improvement - BSBMGT403

An additional 8 units and 6 monthly workshops will be required to complete the full Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. This Statement of Attainment will continue into the full Certificate IV course.
TAFE Western conditions of entry to this course are the ability to work independently.

Face-to-face workshops are delivered by qualified and experienced teachers, you will develop your skills in contemporary management areas.

This program includes activities which are to be completed in your own time.

Course length: 4 hours per week for 39 Weeks
