In a short space of time, Cowra resident Shemali Rimene has flourished into a talented young child care professional with a bright future in the thriving early childhood sector.
At least that’s the opinion of Cowra Early Childhood Services Director Susan Callaghan, who has watched Shemali develop the skills she has learnt as a trainee while studying a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and now a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care at TAFE NSW.
“We are really seeing Shemali mature as a professional. She has learnt skills in building positive relationships with children, planning and documenting children’s play as well as engaging in professional discussions.”
Ms Rimene said she is grateful for the opportunity Susan (Callaghan) and the team at Cowra Early Childhood Services have provided her and the support she has received from her teachers at TAFE NSW Cowra.
“There wasn't a lot of children my age around me growing up, I was the youngest, so being surrounded by children each day fills my life with a little more play time,” Ms Rimene said.
“Karen Howarth (Head Teacher Early Childhood Education and Care) and the teachers at TAFE NSW know so much about the early childhood industry and are always approachable.”
Ms Howarth complimented Shemali on her effort and commitment.
“Shemali is currently in her second year of studying the diploma. She is a diligent and organised student, who engages well in class discussion, often sharing her developing knowledge in the early childhood industry,” she said.
Shemali believes, if you’re passionate about working in the early childhood industry, you should start studying today.
