TAFE Western Certificate II Business student Matt Bryant isn’t your everyday student. In fact, his story is truly incredible.
Mr Bryant, a 34-year-old man from Orange, has lost 99 per cent of his eyesight.
Remarkably, Mr Bryant is now more determined than ever to succeed in the workforce.
Thanks to the expertise of TAFE Western vision consultant Ken Lofts and the one-on-one help from TAFE Western teacher Barry Swain, Mr Bryant is using a state-of-the-art Job Access With Speech (JAWS) program to learn important computer skills he hopes will lead to full-time employment.
“Thanks to TAFE Western and this program, I’m able to use word and send emails just as well as any sighted person,” Mr Bryant said.
“I’m learning new things all the time and because of TAFE Western, I have become a lot more independent and confident.”
Mr Bryant is just one of the many examples of how TAFE Western’s Disability Unit can help change the lives of people with a disability.
