Local hairdresser Nettie Dunn, owner of Hair City – Dubbo and member of the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy teaching staff at TAFE NSW – Western Institute, Dubbo Campus is one of three Australians who have been selected to travel to Thailand to participate in the ‘Art of Healthy Hair’ - Bangkok Competition.
Ms Dunn was selected to participate as part of the Joico Australia team to compete in a Hair Extravaganza in Bangkok next month alongside hairdressers from various parts of the world including the UK and the USA.
“I am very excited to be given this opportunity to enhance my knowledge and ability” she says.
In Bangkok Ms Dunn will be attending seminars, undertaking training in the latest trends in hair colouring, hair cutting and design and then in the finale, being a part of the Hair Show.
The finale is the photo shoot and release of the hair design collection for the coming winter and summer which will be known as ‘Artificial Reality’.
“I am looking forward to sharing the new techniques I learn with my staff and students on my return” she says.
Ms Dunn is currently teaching the Certificate III Hairdressing - TAFE Plus, a full-time course delivered at Dubbo Campus and is the hair colouring and chemical services specialist teacher.
According to Jann Dove, Head Teacher of Hairdressing and Beauty, this experience will give Ms Dunn lots of new and fresh ideas to pass on to her students.
“This opportunity also demonstrates to her students and staff that the dedication and passion Nettie has for the industry pays off” she says.
