Representatives from a number of training organisations providing vocational education for agricultural industries gathered together in Dubbo on October 9 and 10 for the 2008 Australian Agricultural Training Providers' Network Conference.
The conference was held at TAFE NSW Western Institute's Rural Skills Centre in Dubbo and this year, was convened by John Mills of TAFE NSW Primary Industry and Natural Resources Curriculum Centre.
John Mills said, "This event is important for people involved in vocational training for agricultural industries. They are able to share ideas and keep up-to-date with the issues that are affecting agriculture and relate those issues to future training requirements.
"This is demonstrated by the emphasis our 2008 conference program has towards sustainability. Delegates to the conference were shown some new approaches to sustainable farming in their pre-conference tour and also by conference presenters like Louise Kiely who spoke about Carbon Farming.
"Other keynote speakers included Arthur Blewett from the Agricultural Industries Skills Council, Richard Turner from Clyde Agriculture and Andrew Willsmore from National Farmers Federation."
A number of training providers, including TAFE NSW Western Institute took the opportunity to showcase their delivery for agricultural industries throughout the conference.
