Being able to combine study and work has been invaluable for young Aboriginal woman, Holly Pearson, who in a short space of time has created a positive impression with her new employer TAFE NSW Bathurst.
Ms Pearson fast-tracked her traineeship so that she could pursue further training to get the job she wanted at Australia’s largest training provider. Her hard work paid off when TAFE NSW appointed her to the position of a Customer Service Support Officer.
Ms Pearson credits the support from staff and the resources available at TAFE NSW for helping her land her dream job.
“I loved the help and resources that TAFE NSW provided me with throughout the duration of my traineeship and Certificate III in Business Administration. The knowledge and skills I have developed as a result, are priceless,” Ms Pearson said.
“This course has helped me navigate the Microsoft Office world, WHS procedures and develop my customer service skills. I have been able to put these new skills into practice in my role at TAFE NSW and my colleagues have been incredibly supportive along the way.
TAFE NSW Bathurst Team Leader Student Services and Support, Jessica Plunkett, said Ms Pearson’s appointment to the position recognises her as a hardworking and talented student and employee.
“Holly has been keen to learn all aspects of customer service and has been receptive to feedback,” Ms Plunkett said.
“She has a strong work ethic, performs her duties to a professional standard and has developed excellent customer service and administration skills.
“Holly is the perfect example of people who enrol at TAFE NSW to get the skills and experience they need to be job-ready for a career they’ll love.”
Ms Pearson said “I’d really encourage anyone that has ever considered studying at TAFE NSW to take the leap and do it. There are so many great courses that will help set you up for a career.”
