OPEN DAY SUCCESS: TVET students (Back) Rebecca Blandford, Caitlyn Benton, Keagan Byrnes, Savannah Coddington, Rebecca Priest, Mel Craig with TAFE Western teachers Deb Coleman and Jenna McAtamney and their furry friends Pebbles and Moose.
Hundreds of students and parents flocked to yesterday’s TAFE delivered Vocational Education and Training (TVET) open days at TAFE Western colleges throughout the central west.
TAFE Western Education Officer VET in Schools Jacquie Smith said open days at Orange, Bathurst, Cowra and Parkes were successful, with participants exploring exciting career options available through TAFE.
“The feedback we have received has been really positive,” Ms Smith said. “The main focus of the day was to introduce TVET to students and just give them an idea how many great career options are available at TAFE Western.
“We had information stands for floristry, hospitality, animal studies, human services, hairdressing, plumbing and carpentry - just to name a few.
“It was great to be able to showcase to potential students TAFE Western’s state-of-the-art learning facilities but also provide access to TAFE teachers and student engagement officers who provided advice on courses, mobile learning options and answered any questions they may have had.”
