TAFE NSW Orange’s new Head Teacher for Tourism and Hospitality, Amanda Glassop, has made the move from the city to regional NSW to inspire and nurture students to love their work.
Ms Glassop, who boasts almost 30 years experience in the industry, has spent half of that time teaching hospitality, tourism and events at TAFE NSW Ultimo. Excited by the tree change, she is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and enhancing education and training opportunities in the Orange and Central West communities.
“I felt it was time to take on a new challenge and bring a love of all things hospitality, tourism and events to a region with a strong reputation in these areas,” she said.
“Moving out of the city to a vibrant regional area was also a big incentive and I haven’t been disappointed. I love the region and the endless opportunities to be involved in the local tourism and hospitality industry.
“I am most passionate about helping students get the skills needed for the job they want. If I can enthuse them to love what they do, the learning process will happen naturally and they can aspire to be whatever they want to be.”
Ms Glassop said there are some exciting courses available for enrolment now at TAFE NSW Orange for semester two.
“This is the perfect time for students who are about to finish school to gain some qualifications to enter the industry or for employees to do some further study to get that promotion.
“Certificates in Hospitality and Commercial Cookery and Kitchen Operations, Diploma qualifications in Event Management and Hospitality and a range of Statement of Attainments to suit your needs such as Responsible Service of Alcohol, Responsible Conduct of Gaming, Café Baking skills and Food Safety Supervision are all available for enrolment now, right here in Orange,” she said.
“TAFE NSW is also able to offer customised training support and workshops to local hospitality, tourism and events businesses who want to enhance their customer experience.”
