A surge in interest in the Diploma of Leadership and Management saw it become TAFE NSW Orange’s most popular course in 2017, Regional General Manager Kate Baxter revealed today.
Ms Baxter said the Diploma of Leadership and Management had narrowly overtaken last year’s most popular course, the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, with the Certificate III in Plumbing again extremely popular in third.
“The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care was not only extremely popular in Orange, it’s actually TAFE NSW’s most popular course in western NSW,” Ms Baxter said.
“However, it was very interesting but not surprising to see such a significant increase in interest and enrolments in the Diploma of Leadership and Management course. This interest is being driven by increasing industry and workplace demand right across the state.
“This qualification has been designed by industry professionals and will help students bring out their natural initiative, judgement and communication skills to support others, both individually and in teams, to successfully meet and exceed organisational needs.”
Ms Baxter noted that interest in the Certificate III in Carpentry and Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) courses had remained strong in 2017, while the Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) was the big mover, becoming the fifth most popular course in Orange.

Ms Baxter said enrolments for 2018 at TAFE NSW were open now, and would be accepted right across the Christmas period.
“TAFE NSW has more than 1200 courses to choose from – so there’s something for everyone no matter where you live, your skill level or qualifications,” Ms Baxter said.
“With so many exciting options, and with research revealing that TAFE NSW graduates have a higher median income and employment rate than university graduates, there’s never been a better time to consider TAFE.”
