The top TAFE students from Western NSW were recognised on Wednesday 4 June, at the 2014 TAFE Western Outstanding Graduating Student Awards Ceremony in Parkes.
In addition to presentations to the category winners, the ‘Most Outstanding Graduating Student’ was announced as was the ‘Aboriginal Student of the Year’.
Fourteen students from Bathurst (1), Broken Hill (2), Condobolin (1), Coonamble (1), Dubbo (5), Mudgee (1), Orange (1), Parkes (1) and Wellington (1) out of almost 40,000 TAFE Western graduates. The students have been chosen for their academic, personal and professional achievements.
Kate Baxter, TAFE Western’s Institute Director said “Each of the winners has a different but impressive story. There are combinations of motivation and dedication, adversity, community contribution, excellence and leadership. The common theme for them all is that TAFE Western has played a vital part in their journeys… by helping them take the first step in their careers or further education, by assisting them to gain the confidence they need to overcome their circumstances or by advancing their skills and qualifications to secure the next stage in their career”.
This is the first time the Outstanding Graduating Student Awards were held in Parkes. The awards have been running for 21 years and showcase successful students from 24 colleges across central and western NSW.
