Childcare centres in Bathurst and Orange will gratefully accept some spectacularly decorated tables and mosaic wall art hangings that a group of TAFE Western students created as part of their TVET Early Childhood Education Course.
TVET Teacher Stephanie Palmer said nearly 30 talented Year 11 and 12 students worked on the project at different times throughout 2016, and everyone who pitched in was thrilled with the finished products.
“The aim of the project was to teach the students about sustainability, aesthetics, creativity and using recycled materials and accessing cheap (or free) materials and giving these materials a new life,” Ms Palmer said.
“Some items will be donated to Mitchell Early Learning Centre and Hill Street Children’s Centre – with some also staying in the Bathurst TAFE play session room.”
Ms Palmer said as well as teaching the students important skills, the project also supported relationships between TAFE and the two childcare centres.
