For a number of years, the Automotive workshops at TAFE NSW - Western Institute have been made available to vehicle manufacturers for training and updating service personnel from dealerships throughout the central and western areas of NSW.
According to Head Teacher, Stephen Evans, manufacturers who have frequently used the facilities include Ford, Mitsubishi, Honda Motorcycles and now Hyundai.
"To be able to share our training facilities has strengthened our relationship with motor car industry, and a major outcome of this has been donations of new cars and parts to assist us in training apprentices."
"It also gives teachers the opportunity to join in and keep up to date with state-of-the-art developments in vehicles. Very often the manufacturers leave manuals and other training resources with us as well."
"The advantage for the local vehicle service and repair businesses is that they don't have to travel out of the area to undertake this training," he concluded.
The next manufacturer to use a TAFE campus automotive workshop for training in the central west is Hyundai who will be at the Orange Campus for four days starting on 18 September.
