TAFE Western Cowra College will throw open its doors to the local community on Thursday, January 28, for their annual open day.
Cowra College Team Leader Sylvia White said all Cowra teaching sections would be represented on the day, with teachers available to provide quality information and advice for those considering starting education and training with TAFE.
“We will have teachers located throughout the college, which gives potential students the opportunity to ask them any questions they may have and tour our fantastic learning facilities,” Ms White said.
“Teachers from areas such as Business, Property Services, Real Estate, Welding, Wool Classing, Agriculture, Hospitality, Community Services, Education Support, Individual Support (Aged Care) and Access Skills will all be available.
“We will also showcase our award-winning TAFE Western Connect (TWC) program. Many people in Cowra don’t know about TWC, but it allows people to study a range of courses online and remotely from the comfort of their own homes, something which we believe is important in a rural area such as Cowra.
“Popular courses such as Animal Studies, Tourism and Youth Work, just to name a few, may not be available on-site here at Cowra, but we can certainly cater for local people who are interested in distance and remote learning.”
Ms White said TAFE Western would also have an information stand in Kendal Street, outside Optimal Chemist, on January 28, to coincide with the open day.
“We understand not everybody will have time to get to the college, so this stand will have information about all of TAFE Western’s courses and classes conveniently located in the main street,” she said.
“We’re encouraging school leavers, the unemployed or people looking at a career change to come along and get some great ideas for the future.”
The open day will be held from 10.30am-5pm, with a free sausage sizzle available at lunch time.
