Nineteen-year-old Brody Mendham hopes to one day work in the film or television industry and thanks to TAFE Western, that dream could very well become a reality.
The Bathurst TAFE Western College student is currently studying an Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media, having previously completed Certificate III and IV in Digital Media with TAFE Western.
Speaking volumes for his skill and dedication, Brody won the prestigious Vocational Student of the Year Award at the TAFE Western Outstanding Graduating Student Awards for 2015.
“I hope to work in film or television when I’m older - I love filming and directing,” Brody said. “My end goal is to be a scriptwriter/director and TAFE Western has definitely inspired me and given me the confidence to aim big.”
Brody said he chose to study at TAFE Western because it offered the right courses and equipment and was regarded as one of the best training and education facilities in the country.
“TAFE Western’s courses sounded very interesting and intriguing. With a lot of help from Simon Fraser (teacher), who was very helpful and supportive, I’m really happy with my journey so far,” he said.
“It’s easy studying at TAFE Western because the teachers are very helpful and supportive.”
Brody said once he’s completed his Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media he hopes to go to Australian Film Television and Radio School. He hopes that will lead to an internship in the film industry in Sydney.
