TAFE NSW Orange Student Hub staff have thrown their support behind important local charity Pay It Forward, holding a donation drive this month that will help women and children in need in the region.
TAFE NSW Psychologist and Counsellor Rachael Buckerfield said the staff were inspired to help Pay It Forward after celebrating International Women’s Day (March 8) earlier this month.
“Pay It Forward do amazing work in the region providing food, clothing, household items and other support to those that need it in our local communities,” Ms Buckerfield said.
“They have recently acquired a five bedroom house in Orange which will provide crisis accommodation to local families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and other issues.
“As we gathered to celebrate the great work our women do in the region for International Women’s Day, we thought we would put a call out to the local community and help out this life-changing organisation.”
Ms Buckerfield said the donation drive had been really successful, with donations accepted right throughout March. She encouraged people to donate toiletries, toothbrushes, handbags, sim cards, cosmetics, toys for children and other items that can make up packs to be given to women and children entering the facility.
“Even the smallest of donations can make the world of difference so please consider dropping some of these items off to the TAFE NSW Student Hub in Orange,” she said.
Pay It Forward Director Karlie Irwin said the organization was delighted to be involved in the donation drive, and said those who used the facility would be forever grateful.
“Pay It Forward are very honoured TAFE NSW has chosen to support this vital community organisation,” she said. “Pay It Forward prides itself on offering a range of support services to our community and surrounding areas and these donations will certainly make a big difference.”
