TAFE NSW Mudgee student, Kim Schneider, has been announced the recipient of the Sandy Smith Memorial Scholarship for 2018.
Developed in partnership with the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise, the scholarship honours the memory of former Rotary member and TAFE NSW Mudgee teacher, Sandy Smith, who passed away in 2014. The scholarship recognises students studying foundation skills at TAFE NSW and aims to encourage them to achieve their career goals.
Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise member, Birgit Smith, said this was the second time the club had awarded this scholarship and were excited to find such a deserving recipient.
“Sandy Smith was very enthusiastic about providing people with opportunities during her time at TAFE NSW. Kim shows a real commitment to her studies and her career goals, which aligns well with the purpose of this scholarship,” Ms Smith said.
“I am really excited and thankful to receive the Sandy Smith Memorial Scholarship. I plan on putting it to good use by purchasing a laptop to assist with my online studies,” Ms Schneider said.
“It will also help me to continue studying a Certificate III in Education Support and give me the motivation to keep going.”
TAFE NSW Student Engagement Officer, Angie Trevor-Jones, said TAFE NSW was very appreciative of the support received from the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise.
“This financial support will allow Kim to continue to study for a career she loves, helping her get the skills and experience needed to relaunch her career,” she said.
This is just one example of the support available at TAFE NSW to help students to become whatever they want to be. Semester two courses are now available for enrolment. For information visit www.tafensw.edu.au or phone 131 601.
