TAFE NSW Broken Hill will host a special Mental Health Expo on Tuesday, October 17, showcasing the huge range of support services available across the region.
TAFE NSW Broken Hill College Team Leader, Byron Hooker, said the expo was a great way to not only celebrate Mental Health Month, but to raise awareness and offer much-needed assistance to the community at the same time.
“Mental Health Month is celebrated Australia-wide every October so we thought it was the perfect opportunity to hold a casual and fun event, that also helps raise awareness about a very prevalent subject,” Mr Hooker said.
“We’ll have presentations, fun hands-on workshops, competitions, a free barbecue lunch and lots more.”
Mr Hooker said key community organisations such as Mission Australia, Centacare, headspace and many more will support the event.
“This amazing community support means we’re in a great position as a group to raise awareness and break down stigma associated with mental health,” Mr Hooker said.
“It’s the perfect time for HSC students to learn tips about coping with stress and looking after their mental health as they head into their end-of-year exams.
“It’s also an opportunity for our staff, students and the broader community to see what support is available and act as an important reminder to take a break and look after ourselves.”
The expo will run from 10am to noon on Tuesday, October 17. For more information, please phone 08 8082 6827 or email email@example.com
