With the introduction of the NSW Governments Smart and Skilled reforms earlier this month, every new and existing VET student must have a unique student identifier (USI), which they will retain throughout their lifetime.
The USI will give students a single contact point to access all their VET records and give students greater control.
Ms Kate Baxter, TAFE Western’s Institute Director said, “A USI will make it easier for students to access information for course enrolment, to establish credit for recognition of prior learning and to show employers when going for an interview.
“Whilst it is a quick and easy process to create a USI, TAFE Western is here to assist people through our Student Hubs. All that is required is one form of valid identification such as a driver’s license, passport or Medicare card.
Through TAFE Western’s Student Hubs, potential and existing students can also access careers advice, course information, Aboriginal support services, disability support services, personal counselling, library resources, learning assistance and much more.
Ms Baxter added, “Our Student Hubs provide a one stop shop where TAFE services wrap around our customers.”
Enrolments for all courses being offered at TAFE Western in 2015 are now open. For more information about obtaining a USI visit your local TAFE College today.
