Orange’s Stephen Ryan admits he never seriously considered TAFE as a viable option to finding an exciting career.
That was until a serious injury forced him to reevaluate his options and contemplate a new working direction.
Despite initial reluctance to enrol at TAFE Western, Mr Ryan admits it was the right choice and he’s proudly just completed a Certificate II in Business Administration.
“I haven't studied since I left school and this opportunity only came about because I was injured and unable to work and needed to retrain myself and take an entirely different direction,” Mr Ryan said.
“I must admit I was a bit hesitant in enrolling because of my lack of previous study and lack of confidence, but now looking back after completing my course, it has been the best thing I have done.”
Mr Ryan has enjoyed his return to study so much he went on to enrol in TAFE Western’s Certificate III in Business Administration.
“I am continuing my studies in Certificate III Business Administration (Medical) so that I can pursue a career as a hospital ward clerk or administration officer,” Mr Ryan said.
“I would encourage more people to seriously consider TAFE and have a go - start something small and work your way up.
“There are so many awesome people at TAFE Western. It’s great to be able to interact with people of all ages and be able to give back to others throughout this course.
“It’s a happy, friendly and great learning environment.”
