The Australian Government in partnership with TAFE Western is offering a free Virtual Advisor Program to assist individuals, small to medium businesses and not for profit organisations in rural and regional Australia to improve the way they operate and deliver services online.
The program will provide students with the skills to connect to customers via the internet, create new business opportunities and reduce ongoing costs.
The first group of students, staff from the Orange Aboriginal Medical Service, has just successfully completed the six topic program and are now implementing new initiatives to communicate their services and promote their organisation.
Jamie Newman, CEO of the Orange Aboriginal Medical Service said, “The Virtual Advisor Program was made available to our staff as a pilot through the new Winhanganha Aboriginal Learning Centre in Orange.
“The training has been encouraging for Orange Aboriginal Medical Service staff. The program has provided our staff including myself, with new skills to communicate the services we offer as well as promote and sell our organisation.”
The training sessions include subjects such as creating an online presence, planning your online business, online marketing tips and tools, online selling, privacy and security, communicating online and working remotely. In addition, the program also offers up to four hours of free one-on-one mentoring.
Mr Newman added, “The Orange community had a good relationship with TAFE and is engaged in making decisions which will help ‘Close the Gap’ on the disadvantage our people experience in relation to education and employment.
“I would recommend the Virtual Advisor Program to any individuals, organisations and businesses.”
TAFE Western delivers the Virtual Advisor Program right across Australia with participants only needing a computer and a reliable internet connection as it is offered through online training sessions.
