An exciting Skillset Workforce and TAFE NSW program, Skills4Trade, is offering life-changing opportunities for young people in the Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo and Mudgee regions.
Commencing in September, Skills4Trade will provide fully-subsidised, nationally-recognised trade training and work placements to eligible 15-24 year olds.
Skillset Workforce Senior Manager Jane McWilliam said the program aims to increase trainee and apprenticeship participation and completion rates by ensuring young people have the entry level skills required to succeed.
“Engaging with young people and equipping them with the skills and experience they need to get a job is at the heart of what we do,” Ms McWilliam said.
“This is critical in ensuring participants are work ready, which will give them the best possible chance of career success.”
Skills4Trade programs have run since 2016, delivering training and work experience to more than 120 students across the region. Many participants have gained apprenticeships or traineeships, or moved onto further study as a result of the program.
“TAFE NSW is thrilled to be a part of such a worthwhile program that is delivering outstanding results for young people in western NSW,” TAFE NSW Deputy Regional General Manager Adam Bennett said.
“As an organisation we pride ourselves on offering people life-changing education and training opportunities and this is just one example of the exciting opportunities available in the central west.”
Skills4Trade training is delivered by TAFE NSW and funded by the New South Wales Government.
Skillset Workforce, which co-ordinates the program and provides and supports work placements, is looking for work placement partners to secure work experience opportunities for participants.
“This is an essential component of the program and is a great way for local businesses to support young people in their pathway to the workplace,” Ms McWilliam said.
