TAFE Western Dubbo College Diploma of Enrolled Nursing student Krystal Brassington gratefully accepted a $1000 Macquarie Credit Union Scholarship at a special presentation in the Student Hub on Thursday.
Ms Bassington, a young mother who lives in Narromine, was one of five lucky recipients of $1000 and said the financial support would make a huge difference as she strives to fulfil her dream of becoming a nurse.
“This scholarship will assist me with the cost of travelling to and from TAFE and also childcare fees while I study,” she said.
“I have given up days of work to allow me to attend TAFE three days a week. Financially it means we have had to sacrifice a lot, but I love the Nursing course and it’s something that I’m very keen to pursue.
“Like all of the recipients, I want to thank Macquarie Credit Union for their generous support and TAFE Western for their ongoing help and support.”
Other scholarship recipients included Certificate IV Community Services student Karen Allen, Certificate III Community Services student Grace Everingham, Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care student Sukhvinder Kaur and Shantelle Mayne, who is enrolled in both a Certificate IV in Community Services and Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical).
“It gives Macquarie Credit Union a great sense of pride and community supporting these fantastic students in their education and training journey,” Macquarie Credit Union Deputy General Manager Leanne Bourne said while presenting the scholarship recipients with their funds.
“A good education is paramount in today’s society, and we are very excited to partner with TAFE Western to help change lives by allowing students to complete their studies and achieve success in their chosen careers,” Macquarie Credit Union General Manager Matthew Bow said.
