TAFE Western Lightning Ridge College will hold an information day on February 2 between 10am-1pm.
Lightning Ridge Community Customer Support Officer Donna Lund said the event would offer prospective students the opportunity to speak to teachers and TAFE representatives about their education and training options for 2016.
“We will have teachers from Vocational Access, Business, Early Childhood and Opal Cutting on-hand to answer any questions you may have about these courses,” Mrs Lund said.
“We can also put you in touch with support staff to help you choose the right course and options. This includes showcasing our award-winning TAFE Western Connect (TWC) program.
“Many people in Lightning Ridge don’t know about TWC, but it allows people to study a range of courses online and remotely from the comfort of their own homes, something which we believe is important in a rural area such as Lightning Ridge.
“Popular courses such as Animal Studies and Youth Work, just to name a few, may not be available on-site here at Lightning Ridge, but we can certainly cater for local people who are interested in distance and remote learning.”
Mrs Lund is encouraging school leavers, the unemployed or people looking at a career change to come along and get some great ideas for the future.
