TAFE Western Dubbo College will throw open its doors to the local community next week as part of a special state-wide Open Week activity.
Dubbo College Team Leader Sally Bridle said the event was a great opportunity for TAFE to showcase the amazing learning opportunities that are available in 2017.
“Potential students will have unprecedented access to TAFE Western’s facilities, teachers and support services as we celebrate TAFE NSW Open Week,” Ms Bridle said.
“With a new year comes new opportunities and we’re looking forward to showcasing our outstanding facilities, course offerings, employer partnerships and remote learning options, as well as focusing on student success stories and job opportunities.
“Our customer service officers, student engagement officers, librarians, Aboriginal community consultants and support officers, counsellors and Opportunity Hub staff are here to help get students started. Our teaching staff will also be available in their individual sections, ensuring that we can offer advice and options to everyone, no matter their age, ability or circumstances.”
Dubbo’s Student Hub will be open from 9am-6pm every day next week, and Open Week will culminate with a special celebration on Friday, January 20, with a free barbecue, Zoo FM broadcasting live from the college and other fun activities.
“If you are looking for a new career path, would like to update your current skill set or have finished school in 2016 and are considering your options, then come along to our Open Day,” Ms Bridle said.
TAFE Western Acting Institute Director Adam Bennett said Dubbo’s event was part of a state-wide TAFE NSW Open Week initiative, encouraging people to ‘Be Ambitious’.
“This is the first time that TAFE NSW is holding a collaborative state-wide event that is expected to attract more than 40,000 people,” Mr Bennett said.
“Whether you’re looking for a career in technology, animal studies, nursing, horticulture or construction, come and discover TAFE NSW’s vast array of more than 1200 courses, receive one-on-one course advice, take a tour of the Dubbo TAFE College and learn how TAFE NSW, the state’s leading education and skills training provider, can secure you a job and help find a career you love.”
