A desire for a fresh start saw Emma Becke move from Sydney to the central west, swapping a busy career in hospitality for a promising future in administration.
Finding suitable employment in the hospitality industry in the region proved difficult for Ms Becke, who hoped a tree change would improve her lifestyle. She soon realised that the move, teamed with an exciting career change after studying at TAFE NSW, would not only increase her job satisfaction but ability to spend more time with family and friends.
“Once I made the move to Orange and later Canowindra, I found myself starting at the bottom again working weekends and nights at clubs and pubs,” she said.
“In my previous hospitality role I had some experience in administration but didn’t like my chances of being successful in an interview without training, which led to my decision to enrol in a Certificate III in Adminstration at TAFE NSW Cowra.
“Roan Financial Group in Orange were excellent and offered me a job with just five units to go in my course and I couldn’t be happier.
“My teacher, Carol (Waqavesi) was great. She was there when I needed her and taught me how to find the answers for myself.”
A proud Ms Waqavesi, TAFE NSW Service Industries teacher, said Emma was a focused student who completed her work tasks to a very high standard.
“Her new career path means so much to her and Emma’s conscientious approach to learning will set her up well for future positions and any further training she wishes to undertake,” she said.
Enrolments are now open for over 1,200 TAFE NSW courses, including an extensive range of business course options.
“Recognise your need for change. Whether you are looking for a completely new career or looking to upskill your current one, TAFE might just be what you’re looking for,” Ms Becke added.
