After impressing her teachers and successfully completing a Certificate II in Hairdressing at TAFE Western in 2014 nothing is going to stand in the way of Bourke’s, Danielle Smith becoming a hairdresser.
“I have always been interested in becoming a hairdresser and the educational opportunity TAFE Western has given me has only inspired me more,” said Danielle. “One day, I would love to operate my own salon in Bourke.”
Danielle has just been awarded a Big Brother Movement (BBM) Youth Support Scholarship to complete her Certificate III in Hairdressing at TAFE Western in Dubbo. BBM Youth Support offer a range of youth award schemes and youth support programs.
Ms Robyn Mawbey, TAFE Western’s Head Teacher of Hairdressing said, “Danielle is an outstanding student with the passion and drive to succeed. She is currently completing the Certificate III in Hairdressing, the required qualification to enter the industry as a hairdresser.”
Danielle travels to Dubbo each fortnight to undertake two days of intense practical skills.
Danielle said, “TAFE Western has been fantastic. The training has been better than I could ever imagine and the teachers are so supportive.
“I am pleased to be awarded the BBM Youth Support Scholarship. It has changed my life by giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dreams. I cannot thank BBM Youth Support and TAFE Western enough.”
TAFE Western is committed to creating education and training opportunities throughout western NSW and offers a number of scholarships to assist people who may be experiencing barriers to their learning.
TAFE Western Student Scholarships are offered, in partnership with donors, on a semester basis for continuing full time and part time students. The scholarships are available to assist with fees and related study expenses.
