Bathurst events to help build careers
TAFE Western Bathurst College will offer two special information days next week, with a particular focus on the Tertiary Preparation Certificate and Construction courses.
Bathurst College Team Leader Sheree Richards said a Tertiary Preparation Certificate information day will be held in E Block from 10am on Thursday, January 28.
The Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation is a Year 12 equivalent qualification with an emphasis on skill-based learning as well as discipline-specific content.
“The Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation is a Year 12 equivalent qualification with an emphasis on skill-based learning as well as discipline-specific content and is perfect for people who may have left school before they completed their Higher School Certificate (HSC) and finally want to get that qualification,” Mrs Richards said.
“This course is perfect for people of all ages and abilities and the tertiary entry qualification received upon completion is recognised by the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) – opening up many doors for further training and/or employment opportunities.”
The following day - Friday, January 29 - attention will turn to the Construction section with an orientation day in B Block from 8am-4pm. This event is for new apprentices who will commence their training this semester.
“The purpose of this orientation day is to complete the students’ enrolments, show them around the college and facilities and provide them with their timetables and other information necessary for starting their studies,” Mrs Richards said.
“The students will also have the opportunity to get to know our teachers, discuss what they’ll be doing in their respective courses and the life-long skills they will learn.”
Mrs Richards said students enrolling for 2016 in Carpentry, Bricklaying/Blocklaying, Building and Construction, Floor and Wall Tiling and Shopfitting courses should attend the orientation day.
