The Australian Government in partnership with TAFE Western are offering a free Virtual Advisor Program to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and organisations to establish or improve their online presence and competitiveness.
The Virtual Advisor Program is available to small-to-medium businesses and not-for-profit organisations that identify as Indigenous and are located in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia. Non-Indigenous individuals and businesses in regional and remote areas are also encouraged to participate in the program.
The program aims to provide participants with a better understanding of how they can take advantage of high-speed broadband to connect with their customers online, create new online business opportunities and reduce business costs.
TAFE Western is making a reputation for itself throughout Australia and internationally for their efforts to bridge the gap in the disadvantage that Aboriginal people experience in relation to education and employment. The Institute is the single largest provider of Vocational Education and Training in Australia with more than 7,600 Aboriginal student enrolments each year.
Ms Kate Baxter, TAFE Western's Institute Director said, “TAFE Western is excited to be delivering the Virtual Advisor Program through funding from the Australian Government as we are committed to working collaboratively with Aboriginal communities and remain focused on providing flexible, customised and accessible training which changes people’s lives."
Participants will need a computer with a reliable internet connection as the Virtual Advisor Program will be offered through online training sessions.
"Participants are entitled to free group training in online tools for business, social media, online marketing, ecommerce, teleworking, cloud computing and much more," said Ms Baxter. "Up to four hours of additional one-to-one consultancy will also be available to cover the specific needs of an individual business."
