About the Course
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who paint, refinish, repair and maintain painted surfaces on a range of automotive vehicles, recreational vehicles and other vehicles in the automotive industry.

Available as an apprenticeship
On-campus learning of theoretical content will be supplemented with workplace experiences. Students will have access to workplaces which can provide experiences and learning to support the agreed units for the qualification. (for apprentices)
It is envisaged that the workplace will be able to provide relevant experiences to support the classroom delivery.
TAFE at School (TVET)
TAFE Western offers many face to face and flexible TVET courses giving you the option of gaining a vocational qualification whilst you are at school. A TVET qualification can count towards your HSC, and 74.8% of TAFE graduates move into employment upon completion of their vocational qualifications. TVET is a great way to gain some practical skills in an adult learning environment, and the skills and experience you learn could also count towards your next qualification.
This course is targeted to people who have access to a combination of school, part time employment and vocational study.
All training will be conducted in the workplace and supported by:
- learning resources provided by TAFE Western
- standard operating procedures and work instructions available in the workplace
- equipment provided in the workplace
Students undertaking employment based learning will have access to TAFE facilities and support including:
- Student HUB, library facilities and Education Support Officers to support research and independent learning activities
- TAFE Counsellors, Aboriginal Community Consultants and Disability Support Services
This qualification may be accessed by direct entry.

How will I study?
Delivery Location: Dubbo College, Myall Street Campus
This course is designed for Apprentices that are currently working in the Automotive vehicle refinishing (painting) industry. If you are not an apprentice, please contact us on 02 68419746 before enrolling.
This program includes activities which are to be completed in your own time.
When will I study?
Class attendance is Part time
Block release. Monday to Wednesday attendance. 8 blocks per year (One block workplace assessment). 3 year nominal attendance (Part time)
Course length: 24 hours per week for 26 WeeksStart Date: 5 March 2018
End Date: 11 December 2020
What will I pay?
The amount you pay will depend on your individual circumstances.
TAFE NSW Government-subsidised fee (for eligible students): Up to $2,900.00 per course (GST free).
The fee that is displayed is the price for a student completing their second qualification and meeting eligibility criteria. The fee you pay may be lower depending on your personal circumstances and eligibility for a subsidised place, a concession or an exemption. In some cases there are limited government subsidised places available.
Please contact your nearest TAFE Western campus or call us on 1300 823 393 for a personal fee assessment and to find out if you are eligible for a government subsidised place. If you do not gain a subsidised place you may be able to enrol and pay the non-government subsidised fee.
A payment must be made towards your course fee (if applicable) at the time you enrol or your place in the class will not be confirmed and you will not be able to access any of your learning resources.
There is an additional cost for Materials of $216.00.

What do I need?
For successful completion of this course you will need:
* 3rd party work evidence report from your employer as some workplace assessment applies.
* To wear approved workwear and steel capped safety boots.
