It’s official! TAFE NSW Orange campus Hospitality teacher John Olewicz is the industry’s leading Commercial Cookery teacher/trainer for 2017.
“Obviously I don’t teach for these type of accolades, but for my students and peers to think I’m worthy of such an award is very gratifying and as good as the award itself.
“When I started out at Hort Enterprises and TAFE I never expected to get the opportunity to travel all over the world. Now I’ve made it this far, I want to make the most of it and see how far I can go with the ultimate goal to make the Skillaroos team and get to compete in Abu Dhabi.”
“TAFE NSW had 14 students nominated as finalists in the six categories – so to have four claim the highest individual honours in their respective categories was a great result for them and the TAFE NSW team,"
“We don’t teach for these types of accolades, but I’m very honoured to even be considered in such prestigious company because there are some really fantastic teachers in our industry across the country.”
“Today was an opportunity to get Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff together to acknowledge the significant work that has already been done, but more importantly to focus on what needs to improve for reconciliation moving forward.”
“Donna excelled in and out of the classroom during her time studying in Orange and working as an apprentice at Tonic Restaurant in Millthorpe. She is well respected by her peers, is an exceptionally talented student and chef and a very deserving winner of our most prestigious award.”
“Rowan thoroughly deserves this recognition because he continually demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge while at TAFE that made him an outstanding student, juggling school and work commitments with aplomb."
“Shaun is an inspiring student who demonstrated great leadership qualities during his time at TAFE. He has a burning desire to achieve that is infectious, was a great role model for his classmates and is very deserving of this recognition.”
